A rethink that reimagines a disoriented plan, uplifts lifestyle, and unlocks a greater equity value in a 70's Carlton Apartment

A home reimagined from the inside out.
Communitas were invited to rethink a poorly planned two-bedroom apartment with sweeping views of the Carlton Gardens. While its outlook was generous, the interiors told a different story; grungy, dim, and broken up by long, inefficient corridors.
We questioned everything. Working within a limited budget, the apartment was stripped to its bare bones. The existing layout gave way to a new vision — one that reimagined how light, movement, and spatial flow could shape a more liveable and generous home.
Corridors were streamlined, spaces were reorganised, and the boundaries between rooms gently redefined to encourage permeability and purpose. It was a delicate balancing act aligning equity, efficiency, and design clarity to create a home that feels both thoughtful and intuitive.
Today, what once was a fragmented two-bedroom has become a beautifully resolved three-bedroom apartment with an added study. It’s a quiet transformation that celebrates restraint, clarity, and care and one that has unlocked almost 160% in equity value, without ever expanding its footprint.
